[Resign] Rant before Last day

Jul 3, 2021 36 Comments

Hi guys, please bear with me this is slightly long post

Since i have now got offers from few good companies and planning to put papers soon.

Just before leaving i am planning to write a mail to my manager and current team people to let them know and show them real mirror how much ruined the culture of team has become and also about over expectations from manager ignoring about the well being and support to it's team member when it was most needed and on top of that confirming to deliver project within the unachievable deadlines set by product and manager together.

I am really superfrustated from my current manager and few ass slogging creatures of our team who had runied culture and increased expectations of manager.
Also, all manager does is chilling and sometimes attend meetings involving big guys...
Not even concerned about team internal meetings like sprint planning, backlog grooming, standup, where his presence is needed the most.

I had to and was already giving my 200% working overnight till 3am and on weekends because of the shitty culture created by manager and his bootlickers creatures in the team (which i regret now and should do only my 100%)
Theses bootlickers robot kind of creatures don't themselves have life and also want others to give up theirs.
They give their 300% and also expects same from juniors or fellow devs. And by chance if they are not able to slog like them they give PD reviews like "should take more responsibility".
I mean WTF, i am already doing above my limit and what they want now.

Some people and mostly Business , Product guys are such show off they mail and msg on common chat group like at midnight or unusual times and on weekends to show they are so much loyal to team and they everytime think about work while doing shit, eat and sleep but in reality they are 2nd most chill guys after manager ( if not but definitely more chill than devs)

From the work front also there is no scope to grow, 50 -60 % of time spent in adhoc work, operations and support work (i mean hire ops guy for this why wasting Developer time but in Flipkart Developer is not Developer but a slave on whom they can throw any shit), bussiness shitty requests, handling third party shits and what not....
It's a trap like hell inside hell

Anyway since i am leaving now i am happy but want these guys to exposed in front of other team members.

Sorry for my harsh and bad words but I am really superfrustated which u guys can also analyze by my post.

Maybe i am too naive but this is something first time that happened to me and tortured me mentally...

Just wanted Opinion of you guys is it a correct move to do such thing, mail and stuff?

    Good that you ranted here.
I will personally advice not to go that route. There is only one pro which is you'll be able to move on faster. Cons, nothing is going to happen from your email, if people don't already know it they will continue to pretend they don't. HR is more useless than anyone says. And (though I am not a fan of this) you'll end up burning bridges with many.

That's why i want opinion of other fellow blinders, though i am not expecting any improvement in team after i leave nor i care but i want them to how much hell they have made my life and other devs who are silently tolerating this...

I do not see anything positive coming out of this. Save your breath.
Nobody will care probably and It will be just on the files for HR and never actioned.
Other devs will take care of themselves probably…

Lite bro. Cut and run, be all smiles in your farewell meet. No positive change will come out of it if you go that route.

Also, which team are you from and which company are you moving to?

U can do it but it has zero effect. I did this for my manager in my previous company . He talked to team once a week and never joined scrum but once a week he used to suck about timelines and other things. He didn't know that our services are python or java
In my exit interview I gave negative feedback and gave him rating 1/5. Two other colleagues did the same .. He was promoted to director in same year..

Nobody gives a shit to exit interview and your opinions will be thrown in dustbin. Do it if that makes you happy but expect zero impact and they can retaliate by fcking your feedback if anyone asks

A hunter knows that he is killing animals and everyone else knows that too. This is true for shitty managers.
Whom are you trying to wake up?

If there's anything I learnt in my career it's that we live in a small world. I've been in three companies thus far and I can't emphasis the number of times I ended up working with ex colleagues again. Understand that this won't be the last time you end up working with people who fit this category, retrospect on what has happened and how you intend to deal with them down the lane - good and bad experience both are teachers. Grab a drink with a buddy - get your rant out, or Blind.

Fun fact - do you know that the next company can conduct a background check once you join them? I just had a friend who joined a new org after spending less than an year at another. He had to provide the contact details of the previous company for background check. Fortunately he was wiser this time and made sure he parted on good terms.

Update : I just realized you've been able to look past your frustration, congrats. Do make sure you have your 1-1 and exit interviews as diplomatic as possible :)
